Common IT Problems


Problem: I do not have an internet connection

​Solution: Check that your Ethernet wire is plugged into the wall and into the computer.
Problem: The mouse or keyboard has stopped working.

Solution: Make sure it's correctly plugged into the computer (wired mouse).

Solution: Make sure it's turned on and that its batteries are charged (wireless mouse).

Problem: Computer monitor will not come on.

​Solution: Make sure your power cable and monitor cable are both plugged in.

Problem: My sound isn't working.

Solution: Check the volume level.

Solution: Check the audio player controls. Many audio and video players will have their own separate audio controls.

Solution: Connect headphones to the computer, and see if you can hear sound from the headphones.

Solution: Check the cables. Make sure external speakers are plugged in, turned on, and connected to the correct audio port or a USB port.

​Problem: Power button will not start computer.

Solution: Make sure outlet is working.

Solution: Maker sure surge protector works.
Problem: Application running slowly.

Solution: Close and reopen application.

Solution: Update the application.
